For your tournament games, which map is the most commonly selected?

Do teams tend to select the same maps over and over?

Is Death Star CTF no longer the preferred tie-breaker? I remember having to play that map in half of all clan matches.

Also, ramping is broken now? Strange, that it would be a serverside thing. No wonder I can't seem to do it when I play on the PC or the PSP versions.

Hell no. Death Star CTF usually ends up being a tie so there is no point in it being the tie breaker.

But for the Mos Eisley ramping issue, i think it has to do with whatever file that was modded. In jedi, on Mos Eisley the aerials don't work either. It drops you down to the ground quick when you hit it. But for conquest i remember making the characters speed faster caused them to ramp higher.

Most maps are somewhat even. Kratos as a player used to be able to practically 1v4 on Mos Eisley. LSJ is known for stomping people on DS CTF except for season 10 finals lolol <3 and Hoth. BOT loves to play Jabbas and Mustafar, and R used to play Yavin a lot when Iceman was there. It just depends on who is on what team usually.
Don't forget SWL always played Kashyyyk bro haha

I loved Death Star CTF. I remember when I ran the MERC server we'd have it come up like every third map or we'd just switch to it whenever we'd like.

As long as people didn't jump the flag it was great.

Death Star is boring fight in the middle trash. Hence why we played the draw and won Season 10. We knew it was primarily luck of the spawns gets the score.

I think the issue Death Star had was not one of map design but the basic game design. Rockets. The hallway leading from the Control Room to the center was a death zone if a Rocket set up supplied by an Engineer to pellet the back wall with Rockets.

Damn LAK u make it sound like DS CTF is the only map that requires a strategy/teamwork. I honestly don't hate the map, but what I do hate is that 8/10 times that it's played, it will result in a draw. Waste of an hour.

Its different than most of the other popular maps. While Tantive IV is also an interior map, it has more flanking routes than Death Star. Coruscant has much more open spaces. Outdoor maps are completely different.

More what A hole said. But losing on a 15 second spawn on conquest typically meant you were down to one base anyways.

Also... What a hole says. It's like soccer. Lots of ties. One team can dominate the map then lose or tie because of one mishap while the other team can make mishaps all game and still tie (or even win). Plus 60 minutes for a zero zero score. It does have intense moments though.

Right Delta, thats good, lets completely dismiss a map that actually rewards teams for map control and setting up. Look, some people are going to enjoy certain aspects of gameplay more than offers. Obviously you are not a fan of the fight for the middle in DS CTF but, I'm going to have to ask you to leave your personal feelings out of this and look at the map objectively. If you truly take a step back and look at DS from an unbiased stand point there is no way that you will argue that it is not one of the most competitive and balanced maps in the game which requires a large amount of teamwork.

The fight for the middle is one of the most important aspects to DS. If a team can set up around the middle and hold their position they completely control the flow of the game and they instantly put an immense amount of pressure on the opposing team. In a situation like this a teams style and individually can really come out and be felt more so than on conquest maps. You can see how aggressive or how cautious certain teams are. the fight for the middle of the map adds another layer to the game by creating another major objective to contest besides the flag.

In response to the spawns i only have this to say

SWBF2's spawn system is far from perfect and ,unfortunately, because of how the system is set up TLuck comes into play on every single respawn on every single map. For reasons that are beyond me you are choosing to only condemn this map for the spawn timer, saying that Team A can score because Team B received long spawns. On the flip side of that Team A can be poised to score but then Team B gets a miracle 1 second spawn to thwart the advance. Now on normal circumstances i would agree with you, but then I remember how many times LSJ has lost a conquest map because we got 15 second spawns or how many times LSJ could not close out a victory because the other team kept getting one second spawns. I fail to see how TLuck in conquest is okay with you but in CTF its a banable offense....im fucking perplexed.

This is what I was looking for.

And Empire used to always win.  Times have changed, I'll be the first to admit that. I also have never won it on rebels...mainly because my sniper in MoC/AoN was very...meh Wink .

If not DSCTF what was the tie breaker? I can't honestly remember playing on any other maps competitively outside of Death Star, Tantive IV, Mos Eisley, Yavin IV, Coruscant, and Mustafar.

I used to absolutely love DSCTF for the reasons LAK gave. You could massively influence it through being an intelligent player. However, since EU would use DSCTF as our first and last map of every match, people got way more defensive on it and it became mega dull. I personally hated flag jumping and saw it as cowardly, but I'd follow the orders of the team leader.

EU also started using Tantive CTF a lot. Its unpredictable and random nature helped to cover over the cracks in our ability, I guess. I personally thought Tantive CTF was really fun and had some great individual flag finishes in it.

Tantive CTF was a map I remember being used as tie breaker a few times. It's much more focused than DSCTF.

Momentum plays a huge part in Tantive CTF as once you get control, you just hit the opposition with wave after wave. It would completely flip if you get a triple or even a double and then the defending would be scrambled. I found it to be very intense and a lot more frantic than any of the other maps. It really punished players who lacked intelligence or were unaware, as EU found out a few times...
