I uploaded the map to the serverr, it is nice. it definitely takes the rebels favor away from that map. In fact, the empire might actually favor that map...and Yoda, a timeless DS CTF would last for hours. Could probably never end since it takes an hour just to end in a draw.

Oh and blood, 10 min of DS CTF would just mean a harder defense for the team that wants to end at a tie (pretty much every team, including LSJ.) Rush or not when team A has the flag, then team B will go for defends. That's how its played. And those Offense-Defense plays could last a while since the players will just respawn and do what they were doing before (nade spam for example)
I was mainly joking, but you know it didn't take that long. Each DS would take about 40 minutes. However, our clans were not balanced and were full of players who were very young and not hardened clan players. We once did a no-timer 15 flag DS, which lasted about 4 hours. Maybe you could have 1 flag with no timer? People would have to go for it, but one slip and the map is over so it shouldn't last too long.

1 flag - 10 minutes could be a sudden death if the first tie breaker is a tie. If no teams score, both teams get a loss on their record.

It seems pretty harsh, really. You could have a scenario where one team would prefer the other team to get a loss than them get a win, so they defend those 10 minutes and take the loss. Also, you might get two really evenly matched teams that have attacked like crazy but cancelled each other out, yet they get a loss.

What about a ruling where you're allowed to flag jump three times and a further, obvious flag jump results in a forfeit? I guess it might result in "accidental" slips to reset the flag, a bit like diving in English football. It'd cause disputes, though, and would require every match to be spectated or recorded.

If it's a playoff match, you could have a panel judge which team approached the map more positively in drawn DS maps.

The best option for DS CTF would be what Poison said. Going to the 6th conquest map. Tantive CTF is a nah. Possibility that it can still result in a draw. Where in conquest it is guaranteed that someone will win.

One thing I just thought of is that in the new game Conquest is probably going to be Head On not Double Assault like on SWBF2.

There will be home bases out of bounds for the enemy team so you can't win by capping all the flags alone. Might change how we play matches. Very rarely did a Conquest game end through reinforcement bleed, it was almost always through taking all the CPs.

What makes you say that? If Battlefield is anything to go by, you can cap every flag at once in Domination. Also, if there's something like Rush then you have one team attacking and one defending. Not sure how you'd do that in a match format, though.

Head On Conquest (which Battlefield 4 has exclusively) has two home bases which can't be captured so taking all of the CPs doesn't end the game right away. The other team has a chance to come back.

Too long...if it's tied after 30 minutes it's going to a 6th map. 30 minutes is long enough to spend on one map, even our long Mos E maps lasted 25 minutes MAYBE 30, and that's a long Mos E.

I think the way it is now is fine, though Tantive CTF is personally more fun

There's gotta be some element that could be modded to change the typical strategy though. Anything that could make people re-think the DS jump.

I'm ok with a 30 minute timer, if it's still tied sudden death.  If at an 1 hour still tied - 6th map.  I still don't like it...because there will be nights I'll just want to throw DS CTF with how stupid the map is, and how long it takes.

Considering only LSJ picks it, and only as the 5th map, I'm sure you could put up with playing Death Star CTF for what turns out to be like once a month, no matter how long it takes

But surely Delta, faced with the prospect of wasting loads and loads of time playing DSCTF, teams will be more likely to go aggressive and the map will end sooner than you think?

Is there any way to mod the timer so that the length is doubled? So if you put 15 into the RM, it actually does 30 minutes, and 60 would become 120. Maybe excessive modding just for one map though.

I personally think LAK is completely right that if there was no timer, the uber camping would die out. When you can see that you've only got to survive another 10 minutes, say, and the map will be drawn then you must be psychologically less likely to take risks and more likely to flag jump.

I agree with Stern and Yoda. It won't probably won't be picked that match, it won't go to map 5 every time, and finally it won't drain the whole clock every time (even though that if the first 2 things do happen, the third one is much more likely, percentage-wise, to happen). So, for few times all that does happen (probably once a season) I would like to play it out. I think its epic and extremely fun, but I do also know that watching 2 teams play it, if they aren't your clan, can be boring to watch. I personally think no timer has always been the best way to play Death Star, this makes it the tiebreaker if its played that way.

If we don't do that, the next best thing is 1 hour, first to 3, with a sudden death that has no timer if the first hour clock runs out. This is basically what LAK said for number 3.

If we didn't do that LAK's suggestion for number 1 is also okay.

As for the lack of timer making stat-keeping harder, I think we can get around that with the spectator using the broadcast recording times on Twitch, or any spectator could use a stopwatch/clock.

I also would want to limit the amount of restarting/rejoining the server. What we did with R for the grunt tournament that one time was kinda lame, had to keep restarting it, but with the timer off we could have finished it in one sitting. I like just getting everyone into the map with no timer and playing it out.

That was one of the first things we fixed back in 2007. Though there is a theory that it was done on purpose to counter the advantages the Rebels have on the map.

I really like the idea of removing the timer from DS CTF and I actually think 2 flags without timer would take less time than 1 or 2 with a 60 min timer.
The best alternative is probably the sudden death after 30 min with a 6th map when tied.
